Puerto Rican Folkloric Dance

Crazy, right? I can't believe we're having a dance festival here, but that's what is great about this place - anything can happen. Really excited to see what this is all about, and what Puerto Rican Folkloric Dance consists of. Turnout is great and everything is about to get started. I'll keep this updated once I get a look at everything from behind the scenes. Thanks everyone.

Update:  Things are going how I had envisioned it might. The band is great and includes trumpets, odd percussion, lively vocalist; pretty much everything you would expect from a traditional Puerto Rican setup.  People are dancing and eating Caribbean Cuisine, having a great time. Professional dancers come a bit later on, but for now there's plenty of people willing to fill the dance floor.

Spill (Day 3)

Great events going on.

Yesterday there was a lot of cool animation information, where they had both traditional Pen and paper artists talk with "Spill.com"'s Flash8 animation team. Afterwards they played a lot of small user submitted films for a contest, and I was extremely impressed with most of them. really fun to watch, and I was surprised to see how much fans of the site were willing to contribute to the content they publish.

Today they're having a live podcast all day, hilarious stuff. Acts involved The League of Ordinary Gentlemen, A couple of Cold Ones, The Loading Bar, and it'll end off later today with "Let's Do This!".

Check it out, they're streaming right no, and it's amazing. It's a great community and fantastic site. Thanks everyone.

Spilling Over

Hey everyone! I'm having a blast at this Spill.com event. Everyone who showed up is just fantastic, I haven't talked to anyone yet whom I haven't really liked.

We started off with a little bit of SKYRIM, where some people made a game of epic adventure into a comedy play with pointless objective. Didn't think I was going to like it as much as I did, I'm pleasantly surprised.

Right now we're watching "Twilight:Breaking Dawn" while comedians "Master Pancake" tear it a new one. I haven't seen the movie before, but I feel like if I have to see the movie, this is the best way to do so.

I'll update later today with how the rest of the day went, and probability upload some pictures. Stay tuned.

UPDATE: We got to see "The intergalatic Nemisis" perform. Really cool show to see, a truly new medium of art. Afterwards they talked about how the team has made it to where they are today, and told us all about what they do.  Here's them on stage!

Spill

Here's the deal... A lot is going on over the next couple of days. Spill.com is having some really fantastic events at The Marchesa.

Tomorrow there's going to be a live play through of popular video games with live commentary by seasoned professionals (1-2pm), comedy commentary by the group "Master Pancake" as they mock on of their favorite films (2:30-4:30pm), performance by the live action Graphic Novel troupe "The Intergalactic Nemesis" (5-7pm). That's just the first half of the day.

Check out the full schedule, and see if you want to stop on by. Anyone and everyone is welcome, it should be a lot of fun.  http://www.spill.com/features/spilldotcon2012

Cannon Recap & Youth Media Awards

Lots of cool things went on at the Cannon event, glad to have had the experience. Everyone that came in for the event was incredibly friendly. It was wild to see all of the things people could do with a few hours, some film and the right lighting. Models came in, and we even had one of our own beautiful Marchesa employees fill in to do a few photos. As I said, I'll try to get some of those photos uploaded.

Our next event is the "Youth Media Institute" awards ceremony. It should be interesting to see what all the youngsters are making, and try to get a feel for the next generation of film makers. It looks like a really cool event, and should be a lot of fun.

That's all for now, I'll check back in soon.

First post; Cannon Photo Workshop

Hey everyone, first post on the blog (exciting!).

Anyway, just thought I would say hello.  I'll try to keep updated with interesting things that are going on, and let everyone know how things are working here over at the Marchesa.

There's a really exciting event coming up in a few days. It's the "Cannon Photo Workshop", and  they describe it as:
  • "This hands-on workshop covers each step of the storytelling process, including plot development, character recognition,  composition, creative lighting, sequencing, camera operation, and editing. Whether your interest is in documenting family events, capturing the world around you, or making a short film, you’ll gain the confidence and know-how to create visually stunning and engaging videos."
Hopefully there will be some amazing photos from the event that we'll be able to share. I heard something about skateboarders, I'll keep you posted.
